Dusk Howler is a webtoon adaptation of the novel by the same name written by Taesun. The webtoon is written by Taesun and illustrated by Crew (Nansae). It is a comical depiction of the desperation of a young man who tries to change his timid personality through a virtual game.

Summary[]

Kim Jee-Ha comes from a good background with decent grades and test results; however, he has one big flaw - when it comes to official events like university interviews for example, he is horrible. To overcome his social awkwardness, he embarks upon the virtual reality game Trikia where he meets an eccentric high level undead Nine - his future guild master.

Notes[]

The novel "Dusk Howler" consists of 2 parts or about 12 volumes. Part 1 (7 volumes, 53 chapters, the server "Trikia" in the game "Trikia", the European world of sword and magic) is a complete work, but readers often asked the author to write a sequel, and as a result, the author wrote Part 2, which tells about the further adventures of the protagonist (130 mini-chapters, the server "Murim" in the game "Trikia", the Ancient Chinese world of the sword (wuxia)). Part 2 is also a complete work, however, at the end of Part 2 there is an advertisement for Part 3 (the server "Chonmage" in the game "Trikia", the heavenly world of angels (good gods) and demons (evil spirits)); release date unknown.

Part 1 was published as a paperback by Dream Books (a brand of Samyang Publishing) in 2009–2010. In 2014, Samyang Publishing divided Part 1 into 170 mini-chapters and published it as a web novel on KakaoPage, and in 2015–2016, Samyang Publishing released Part 2 on KakaoPage as a web novel consisting of 130 mini-chapters (i.e. about 5 volumes). Part 2 is not divided into volumes.

Part 1 and Part 2 are combined into one novel and published on the same page on KakaoPage, so these parts have the same description and the same cover. Part 2 has never been released as a print edition and has never been published anywhere except KakaoPage.

In 2014–2016, Dream Toon (a brand of Samyang Publishing) published the webtoon "Dusk Howler" on KakaoPage. This webtoon consists of 91 chapters. Chapters 1–51 correspond to the first volume of the novel, while chapters 52–91 correspond to the second volume and the beginning of the third volume of the novel, and also mention some events from the fifth, sixth and seventh volumes of the novel.

This webtoon has a complete plot and is classified as a completed work, despite the fact that this webtoon showed in detail only the events from the first two volumes of the 7-volume (or rather, 12-volume) novel.
